The Beans Balls Joint
“Are you done with eating? I need to leave now,” the man said as he approached them. “They are not yet done sir; the girls are very hungry. You could go take care of your business, they will wait for you when they are done,” said the lady selling beans balls. The man stared coldly at her, opened his mouth to say something and then decided against it. “Thanks a lot sir for the food. We will be here when you return. We can really use some rest here, it has been a tough day for us,” Sandra said, maintaining a plastic smile on her face. The man drew closer to Sandra and Patricia with an artificial smile on his face. Both girls read it very well, but that was not what got their hearts racing. It was the tattoo on his hand. Uncle Jones had it as well. Poised for action, Patricia brought the man’s attention to the tattoo. “I have an uncle with that same tattoo on his hand. In fact, he has it just where you have yours,” she said.

Her observation was met with a frown on the man’s face. “Really?” the man asked, obviously to save face. He turned swiftly, facing the beans ball seller, he asked, “How much do I owe you now?” “Just five-hundred naira sir.” He removed his wallet, picked out a crisp five hundred naira note and gave it to the lady. “Thank you sir,” said the lady. Without saying a word, the man turned and left. “He is not happy with you, madam,” Sandra observed. “Yes, he is not. He may have thought I was protecting you people from him.” “That is exactly my thoughts,” Sandra said. “Why do I have this hunch that he is coming back? For a moment, I thought I was with uncle Jones, did you feel the same way Sandra?” “Oh sure! I did. Whoever this man is, he has something to do with Uncle jones.” The lady dropped back the chips she was going to serve them and moved closer to them. “That man is evil, I want you two to leave the moment he drives away,” said the lady.
“But we don’t have any money on us, madam,” Sandra said. “And we need a change of clothes. We are almost naked,” Patricia added. “It is okay, I will take care of those,” the lady said as she picked up her phone and placed a call to one of her daughters. “Martha, are you at home? I want you to bring…okay, don’t bother, come to my shop now!” she said to her daughter over the phone. Some distance away from them, the man sat in his car looking at them. He had a phone on his ear talking to someone. Sandra returned his stare coldly, to make him realize they had a clue he was up to something evil. “Don’t look at him that way, Sandra,” Patricia said. “He is looking at us!” “You are giving him reason to think we know he is up to something bad.” Sandra looked away.

Just then the man drove away. About three minutes later, the lady’s daughter arrived. “Martha I want you to go back home and bring these girls something to wear. I want it done now!” Martha hesitated a bit and then asked, “Mommy, can they go home with me to get what to wear?” “No, go bring them some clothes. They will change into them behind that wall. Be quick about it!” Martha had not seen her mother that worried in a while. She had to leave quickly, wondering what was going on. While they waited for Martha to return with the clothes, another vehicle, a Toyota Hilux truck, pulled into the street. The driver drove down a bit and stopped. Inside the vehicle were three men, looking like bouncers. They had their gaze fixed on Sandra and Patricia. Neither Patricia nor Sandra took notice of the Toyota Hilux truck.

When Martha returned with some clothes, she led Patricia and Sandra behind the wall to change into the clothes. The moment they stepped out from behind the wall, Patricia took notice of the Toyota Hilux truck. At first she noticed nothing, but when she realized the three men in the truck were looking their way, she mentioned to Sandra the odd feeling she had about the men in the Toyota Hilux truck. “Jesus! They are planning to kidnap us!” Sandra exclaimed. “What is it?” asked the lady. “The three men in that Toyota Hilux truck are looking our way. Mr. dead must have sent them to keep an eye on us,” Patricia said. To fool them the men looked away. “I know what to do. My sister’s husband is a policeman; I will call him to accompany you people away from here. Where is your house?” “Egbeda,” replied Sandra. “Where on earth is Egbeda?” asked the lady with the look of shock on her face. “Lagos of course,” Patricia replied, wondering why the lady did not know where Egbeda was.

“Oh God in heaven! Lagos?! How then did you people get here?” the lady asked. “Please madam, where are we?” asked Sandra. The lady looked at them curiously, turned to her daughter who was equally surprised as she was and then turned back to Patricia and Sandra. “You are in Kogi State. Do you have a clue where Kogi is?” she asked them. “Oh my God! We are not even in Lagos, Sandra. How did they bring us here?”

The Church House
“Jesus Christ! Samuel slow down!” Pastor Yemi Silva screamed. He was sitting near the altar with Samuel, listening to his hair-splitting tale about his parents and Gegwe. “How long has this been happening?” Pastor Yemi asked. “Since Gegwe came back from Liberia,” replied Samuel. “If some of the visions I saw when we were praying for you had not confirmed the things you said here, I would have thought you were beside yourself.” “Pastor it is worse than you have heard so far.” “How bad is it?” “Wait for this, my parents are brother and sister…they have the same parents.” Pastor Yemi’s mouth hung low in utter shock and his eyes almost popping out of their sockets. “Do you mean to tell me that your father and mother are from the same parents?” he asked locking his middle fingers in demonstration of the unholy mingling of blood in his parents’ relationship. “How did you learn this, Samuel?” “The seer I went to see told me that and much more.” “Holy Jesus! This is not happening! Who is Gegwe then?” “She is my mother’s daughter. She had her with uncle Jones who is also a brother to her…”

“God!!! How could this have been happening under my watch and I did not see it? God! Why did you not reveal this to me?” Pastor Yemi began to cry. “When I was praying for you at the hospital, I saw things like this, but I mistook them for the spirits attacking you.” “Pastor, that is not all, the seer said that my grandfather was a devil.” Pastor Yemi jumped to his feet and drew away from Samuel, looking shell shocked. “What did you just say Samuel?” “The seer told me that my grandfather was not entirely human…” “What was he then?!” “If you don’t believe me, why don’t we go see the seer together. The seer is a God fearing man. He said that my parents are of the seed of Satan.”

Sitting on the bare floor, pastor Yemi said in a whisper, “Samuel, if you understood in full what you just told me, you wouldn’t be as calm as you are right now. Last week we were in an urgent meeting with the bishop and he revealed to us the things God had shown him. There were eight bishops from America in that meeting. We were warned to get the church ready for what has begun. Samuel, we were told that there are over ten million people like your parents on earth today. The offspring of couples like your parents shall help the antichrist to rule. It is in the book of Daniel 2:43, they are called the Nephilim. Like in the time of Noah in Genesis 6:4, demons have begun to have sex with women who will give birth to children who will fill the earth with unimaginable sins in preparation for the coming of the antichrist…” “What is the fate of my sisters and I pastor?” Samuel asked, shaking from head to toes. “I wish I knew Samuel. I…can we go see the seer who revealed this to you?”

Samuel could not stand up. He still had much to tell pastor Yemi. When he was kidnapped on his way back from the seer’s house, the people who took and buried him alive, were not exactly humans. They had told him that he was their brother. He did not understand their meaning then, but with pastor Yemi’s explanation, he could understand what they meant and the things he saw in that grave. He could also remember what Gegwe told him the night she sneaked into his room attempting to have sex with him. She had mentioned before Sandra came to his rescue that they were of a foreign race. He could recall what Gegwe had said. “We are of the prince of the air. It doesn’t matter what we do. Having sex together is not wrong for people like us,” Gegwe had told him. To him, she was simply possessed with a demon, but he no longer thought that way. It was worse.

“Samuel! I need to see that seer now!” pastor Yemi demanded. Samuel stood to his feet and dragged his body along. He wanted to tell pastor Yemi the things he had seen, and that he was buried alive and told he would rise from the grave a new man. He had risen from the grave but was still to figure out how he had become a new man. God answered pastor Yemi when he and his prayer team prayed for me; there has to be some hope for me and my sisters, he had thought.
