Nigeria's leading fictional story blog - her clothes revealing her naked body, on her body, several marks and wounds, completely engrossed by Candy’s body, policemen trying to rape a girl, every hour, a girl is being raped somewhere in Lagos, The taxi driver, pungent stench of sperm and sweat, Osun State University.

The Hotel Room
The taxi driver lay Candy on the bed and ran into the bathroom. In a jiffy he was back with a towel and a bucket of water. “Your wounds need to be cleaned,” he said to her. Left to Candy she would have preferred to doze off immediately. She sat up on the bed and pulled off her clothes revealing her naked body. Her body bore several marks and wounds. The taxi driver was both shocked and excited by what he saw. He was shocked by the wounds and bloody marks on Candy’s body and excited by the look of her seductive body. For a few minutes he was rooted to his spot completely engrossed by Candy’s body. “Help me clean the wounds please,” Candy’s voice brought him back. He squatted on his knees and dipped the towel in water and went to work on her body.

Candy could see his struggle at controlling himself. His breath was heavy and dragged. His hands moved irregularly as he dabbed the towel on her thighs cleaning off blood. Candy could not just explain how she could strip herself naked before a man she had barely met. She could not figure out the rationale for the trust she had in him. A few minutes ago I was running from men who wanted to rape me and here I am naked before a man whose name I don’t even know, she thought. She reasoned that perhaps she trusted him because he was the only one amongst the men she met who did not try to take advantage of her even when he had the chance to.

“What is your name sir? I am Candy Eloka.” “I am Idris Okikiola. What happened to you?” “Some boys tried to rape me after you left. It took the intervention of the police to save me from them. Sadly, after rescuing me, the same policemen wanted to have sex with me.” “That is too bad! We have failed as a nation. Imagine policemen trying to rape a girl they rescued from rapists. When I was growing up in Ibadan in the seventies, you could drop a bag of money on the street and a policeman will find it and bring it back to you. Sadly, these days, if a policeman finds huge sum of money on you, he will kill you for it. You must be grateful you didn’t lose your life in the process. Many girls have died in such incidences.” “I really am grateful to God. I will never make the mistakes I made recently ever again.” “I felt you might get in trouble when I saw how you were dressed. Social and medical workers claim that every hour, a girl is being raped somewhere in Lagos.”

“I can’t agree more sir. It might be worse than that. If I tell you what I saw in a party I attended, you might think I am making it up…” she paused as she felt a lump in in her throat. “Please sir, my phone and its charger are in my bag. Could you help me plug it to the socket? I need to speak with my parents and apologize for what I did.” The taxi driver stood up, unzipped Candy’s bag which was on the bed and removed her phone and charger. While he went to plug it to the socket on the wall, Candy stood up and went into the bathroom. The images from the party had come rushing back to her mind. She had not seen a girl being raped before, but the one she saw in Michael’s house was to her the worst there possibly could be. Having seen how the taxi driver reacted to her nakedness, she felt it would be nice to clean herself up and stop tempting him.

Michael’s House, 7: 15 am
One after another, the bevy of girls in Michael’s house lazily dragged themselves home after the party. The effect of the drugs in their drinks had begun to take toll on their bodies. Though it had given them strength and stamina to have several rounds of sex and to party with no holds barred, they bodies were beginning to feel the stress. On the floor of the living room some boys and girls lay helplessly beside each other without their clothes on. A pungent stench of sperm and sweat filled the house. Some girls would wake up and begin to look for where they dropped their pants and bra and would drag themselves inside the guest room to dress up and leave. The boys also found their boxer shorts, dressed up quickly and left.

Some guys who thought the raunchy sex they had in the party was an indication they had a chance to date some of the girls, asked for their numbers. Some lucky ones got good response from the girls. When Michael came downstairs he pleaded with some of the girls who were still around to help him clean up the house. With the offer of ten thousand naira, the girls who claimed to be too tired for the work accepted to clean the house.

Michael felt so hungry he thought he could eat a cow all by himself, while the girls cleaned the house, he went into the street to buy rice and beans from a popular food vendor on his street. He was still eating when Tosin dashed into the street looking for him. When he found Michael, he led away from the crowd buying food from the food vendor and told him what he had learnt from Chima. “Salami and Dolapo are dead!” he announced. “What!! That is a lie! They left with Chima to go look for Candy last night!” “Chima just called me right now. He said they found Candy and took her down to Eku Primary School to rape her. Before they could get to have fun with her, the police came and in the process killed Salami and Dolapo. Chima got away with Lanre. According to Chima the police left with Priye and might use him to pick us up.”

Michael shook from head to toes. He had thought his problems were over after the girl they raped recovered. He ran back to the food vendor, dropped his plate of food on her table and paid her. The sad news he heard had taken away his appetite. “If the police rescued Candy, that means she is going to bring them to my house. I don die! Wetin I go tell my parents? I told Chima to leave that girl alone and he wouldn’t listen,” Chima lamented. “Guy, you need to get those people in your house out now and disappear from this area. As for me, I am leaving for OSU (Osun State University) this morning,” Tosin said and left hurriedly.

By the time Michael got back, the girls had done a hurried work of cleaning the house. It wasn’t the best they could do, but it was better than what the house looked like before he left to go eat in the street. He ran upstairs and returned with money. He paid the girls and asked them to leave his house. “Leave! Leave! Everybody get out of my house now!” he shouted, panting heavily. The alarm in his voice sent his friends on their way out.  He had no time to tell them what had happened. He felt it was better they heard it when they get into the street. He ran around the house to make sure everyone was on their way out of his house. Dashing upstairs, he packed some of his personal effects, hurried to lock the house and rushed out. At the gate he left the keys with the gate man whom he had sent home the previous night.

By now the news of the two young men shot dead by the police had circulated the whole area. People trooped out to go look at their bodies. Salami’s car was still where they parked it in the night. People had already begun to call his father to tell him the fate of his son. While Michael sneaked out of the neighbourhood, the police stormed the area looking for Chima and Lanre. The two guys had long left the area. When they could not find them they went to Eku Primary School and left with the bodies of the dead young men and Salami’s car.

Though Deji had left the party early and was not amongst those who tried to rape Candy, he still was afraid. Candy had bolted away when he was trying to rescue her. Knowing how the Nigerian policed liked to arrest both the innocent and guilty for selfish pecuniary reasons, he left the neigbourhood the moment he heard about the deaths of Salami and Priye. All three of them, Michael, Tosin and Deji found their way down to OSU where they had gained admissions to study respective courses. For days, the police kept sweeping the area arresting young men who they suspected knew where Chima and Lanre might be. In faraway OSU, Chima and his friends prayed fervently that the news of what happened in the party might not get into the ears of the police.
