Nigeria's leading fictional story blog - Nusakambaga Island prisons Jakarta, Belladonna, switched back to English language, Indonesian police have the proof, embarrassment to his friends and family, swindled two million US dollars about five years, Aconite, also known as wolfsbane, leaves only one post-mortem sign - asphyxia.

When she reached him she bowed and said in Italia, “Buon compleanno Signor Sly!” (Happy birthday Mr. Sly!) She switched back to English language, “I bring greetings from Kiyoshi.  He thinks the pigeons have lost their way.” She bowed again and presented the gift. Mr. Sly studied her for a moment, took the gift from her and hastily ushered her out of the crowd to one corner of his house. “Who are you?” he asked. “I am Lavonne, I work for Daichi Kiyoshi, he sent me here to bring his birthday gift to you and to seek a new partnership with you.” “I don’t deal with Japs any more. Go tell Kiyoshi to find his lost pigeons on his own; besides, I don’t make deals on my birthdays”. “Yes, you don’t, but not if Mr. Kiyoshi has a useful piece of information for you sir.”

“What information is that?” “My boss, Daichi Kiyoshi, believes he knows who killed your son, Efosa. If you will agree to deal with him, he will make the killer’s identity known to you.” Mr. Sly’s curiosity was aroused, he led her much further away from his guests and asked, “Is Mr. Kiyoshi serious about that? Does he know who killed Efosa?” “He is certain he does.” “I will deal with him if he can present to me anything persuasive enough to prove he might know who poisoned Efosa.” Lavonne looked around and did a quick head count of how many security men were in the party ground. Turning her gaze back to Mr. Sly she said, “If you want to see something convincing enough take me to some private place.”

“Follow me,” Mr. Sly said to her. Lavonne followed him. Some distance behind them; two security guards in tuxedo ambled towards them pretending to be guests. Sly Imudiase led Lavonne to the office apartment in his house. Inside he demanded, “Show me what you have! If it is convincing, then your boss should know he has a deal with me.” While Mr. Sly was speaking, Lavonne was rummaging through her purse as if to fish out the evidence Mr. Sly needed. “Mr. Sly, my boss believes your son was killed by your agent code named ‘Belladonna’, who disappeared thirteen years ago in Indonesia with your shipment.” “That is rubbish! Belladonna died thirteen years ago in Nusakambaga Island prisons Jakarta. Indonesian police have the proof of her death.” “No, you are wrong sir. Belladonna lives even as we speak”. “Let me see your proof!” In a swift move, Lavonne pulled off her mask and said, “Sly Imudiase, I am your proof.” Mr. Sly was shocked; he could not believe his eyes. Right before him was Belladonna. “You can’t be alive Maria! How is this possible?!” he shouted.

Before Mr. Sly could reach for the weapon attached to the wall, Lavonned pulled out her 9mm, it had a silencer device on and fired two quick shots into the back of his chest. Sly Imudiase crashed on the floor, breathing heaving as the numbness of death spread over him; Lavonne squatted close to him and whispered, “I didn’t steal from you. It was Efosa who did and then made it look like I did. He knew I was innocent when you sent him and the others to wipe out my family and he still killed them. He dumped me into Nusakambaga Island prisons and tried severally to kill me and somehow I refused to die. Extend my greetings to him when you two meet in hell.” She stood up and fired a shot into his skull and his brain exploded on the floor.

She put her mask back on, with her gun in her hand; she went to the door and put her ear on it. Sensing someone was standing by the door on the other side, she banged heavily on it and stepped aside. Two men in tuxedo barged into the room; from behind the door she fired some shots, shattering their skulls. She put her gun back into her purse, stepped out of the office, calmly locked the door behind her and left with the key. As she walked away, she gave no impression that she had killed three men. She went straight to the gate and let herself out of Sly Imudiase’s mansion. Outside she continued to walk on foot still looking like she had done no wrong. After about two minutes’ walk she stopped a cab and told the driver to fly. Back at Sly Imudiase’s mansion, the party was still going on. It took a little while before guests noticed his absence.

Guards were sent to find him, in a short while they looked through the whole building in search of him. His sudden disappearance caused no small stir. Some guests had to dial his number to know why he abandoned them at his own birthday party. His phone rang severally and yet he didn’t pick up. A few people recalled they saw him walking with a lady towards his home office apartment. Some of his bosom friends smiled when they heard he left with a lady and asked the guards to give him a little time. They were of the assumption that he might be busy with her. However, when the wait for him to come out seemed to drag for too long and was causing embarrassment to his friends and family, the guards were told to tear down every locked door in the house to find him. When his office apartment door was forced open, they found him and two guards dead on the floor. His death was a stunner to all present.

In the midst of the crowd was the detective hired by Evelyn and her friends. He had seen Mr. Sly lead Lavonne to his home office but had not thought much of her, his attention was on a man whom Mr. Sly had swindled two million US dollars about five years earlier. He still had a mental picture of what the lady looked like, he made a quick sketch of her face and what she wore and asked the guards if they had seen her leave the premises. His hopes of finding her were deflated when they told him the lady was seen leaving the premises. The detective did not waste time to call Evelyn and the others to break the news of the death of their boss. They all had wanted come to the party, but he felt it was too risky and advised them against it. Evelyn was so shocked she couldn’t speak above a whisper; she managed to mumble over the phone, “Mr. Kelvin I want you back in Lagos now. We need to review that list we gave you.” While everyone tried to come to terms with Sly Imudiase’s murder, Lavonne was hatching a new plan to take out the remaining members of his family. Much later in the evening, she returned to Sly Imudiase’s mansion, posing as a mourner who had come to sympathize with Sly Imudiase’s widow, Cecilia Imudiase, and her only surviving child, Ivie. Having worked long enough with Sly Imudiase she knew a lot about his wife and daughter.

So when she arrived, she had with her a good supply of fruits. Celilia and her daughter, Ivie, could not recognize who she was, but she sure knew a lot about them. She claimed to have worked with Mr. Sly sometime in the past and was saddened by the news of his gruesome death. Her new mask did the part of hiding her true identity and her knowledge of the family helped her wind her way into their hearts, laying every doubt to rest. Tale after tale, she recounted moments of Mr. Sly’s kindness and compassion shown to her in the past. She shed a few tears as her narratives reached a soul-touching crescendo. Her stories were bits of lies and truth woven together to create the impression she desired. Moments after she had convinced Cecilia and Ivie about who she was, she pulled Ivie aside and presented the fruits which she had bought for them, “Ivie, I remembered mama’s love for fruits, so I made a stop on my way to buy these for her, I know you like fruits too, so I got enough to serve you both. I hope it will be of use to you and mama at this time. I don’t expect her to have much appetite for food with what has happened; but she can make do with some fruits.”

Her gesture helped to lend credence to her claim of having known the family in the past. Those close to the Imudiase family knew that Madam Cecilia, as she was fondly called, had a liking for fruits, a trait which her daughter inherited in abundance. Much later that night when the number of mourners around had begun to thin out, Lavonne picked her bag and told Madam Cecilia that she had to be on her way. She thanked Lavonne for the fruits and her comforting words and asked her to stay in touch. She promised she would and left.

Much later in the night when visitors had left the Imudiase’s home, leaving just relatives to stay by Ivie and her mother, Ivie seeing her mother had not eaten much all day, washed some of the apples Lavonne had bought for them and gave her mother. She also ate some of the fruits and the both of them retired to their respective rooms for the night. By morning, Cecilia Imudiase and her daughter, Ivie, were found dead on their beds. The fruits which Lavonne bought for them had been injected with aconite, a very lethal poisonous substance. Aconite, also known as wolfsbane, leaves only one post-mortem sign – asphyxia. Aconite causes arrhythmic heart function which leads to suffocation. Having accomplished her mission in Port Harcourt, Lavonne flew back to Lagos by first flight the next morning. When she returned to Lagos she quickly made arrangements with Hunter and sent Agatha to Freetown Sierra Leone. Hunter and some tech savvy guys had dug up a lot of info from Linda’s phone which Lavonne took from her the day she shot her. They found e-mails, bank accounts and contacts which they could use to lure out Evelyn and the others.
