Entries to MOOFY STAR SEASON 1 ended some days ago and we promised to publish the five finalists over the last weekend. Well now it is no longer a secret that we did not. The delay was down to the difficult job of nominating the five finalists who would go into the VOTING STAGE. Because of competition and to be fair to all we have decided to increase the list of nominees from FIVE to SIX.

Below are the SIX nominees and their entries.


Lonah Nandi
’Ndakuyanza,’ meaning “I love you.” The expression is from Luhya. Luhya is a Bantu language of Western Kenya.

Queen Oputibeya
‘Iye belema me’ meaning, “I love you.” The expression is from local Kirike language and is part of the ljoid group in Nigeria. Its speakers are found in Okrika amongst the oil rich South-South people of Nigeria.

Jecinta Anyanwu
‘A hurum gi n'anya’ meaning, “I love you.” The expression is from Igbo language. It is precisely from the Abia/Imo parlance of the Igbo language.

Princess Miata
Alagm’ meaning “I love you.” It is also called ‘kasem’.  It can also be spelt as’ alagim’, depending on the stress of the vowel "i". The expression is from the Upper East region of Ghana.

Pretty Mildred Oma
‘Agwabeghi'm gi na ahurum gi na anya maka na ndi mmadu na ekwu ya mgbe nile. Achorom igosi gi na ahurum gi na anya site na omumem. Ugbua, ana mu agwa gi akarakam na afulum gi n'anya. All of the above means, “If ‘I love you’ wasn't a cliché, I would have said it to you long time ago, but I prefer to show it to you. Right now, I am telling you my destiny, “I Love You!” 

Don’t worry; the romantic expression above is from the Igbo tongue. It is a mix of two dialects in the Igbo language.

Grace Francis        
‘Afurum gi n’anya’ meaning “I love you.” The expression is from South East Nigeria. It is widely used amongst the Enugu/Anambra parts in South East Nigeria. It is also an expression used commonly to say, “I love you” in the Igboezue branch of the Igbo language.

Having presented to you the SIX NOMINEES, here are the rules for the Moofy Star show and for voting for your best THREE EXPRESSIONS:

1.    The contestants are NOT allowed to vote for themselves. However they can vote for each other.

2.    The Contestants are ALLOWED to canvass for votes on Moofyme Facebook page and on our blog,

3.    The Contestants are free to invite people to vote for them during the TWO WEEK voting period.

4.    Voters can cast their votes by using the following expression, “I vote for... (You put the full name of the Contestant you are voting for).”

5.    Each voter is entitled to vote TWICE.

6.    If a voter casts more than TWO VOTES his/her previous votes will be classified INVALID VOTE. (Contestants please be on the lookout for such VOTES).

The THREE NOMINEES with the HIGHEST votes cast, will emerge as winners.

As Moofy Stars, our esteemed writers will celebrate each of the THREE WINNERS in story series that will revolve around them. Our writer will tell their stories in the most insightful, suspenseful and yet glamorous of styles.

All the above NOMINEES are required to IMMEDIATELY send us professional studio photos (quality pictures) of themselves before FRIDAY THE 17TH OF JUNE 2016. The photographs will be used to make posters for them for the voting period and for the story series which shall be written about the winners by our writers.
