Anita Mikhail had to watch Melinda for days; she was quite aware that to make the wife of lord Frederick Edward disappear won’t be easy as picking ripe cherries. Having worked with Kate for some time, she knew how things worked amongst the members of the Elite – agents often hung around the family members of highly placed leaders of the Elite. After three days of shadowing Melinda, Anita managed to get her hands on her. However she had to first take care of the three agents who followed Melinda without her knowledge that she was being followed. With a few dollars, Anita had a waitress drop polonium into the coffee cups of the three agents and that was the last she heard of them. Melinda had the habit of visiting particular coffee shops in the evening, the three agents who followed her had come to think that Melinda either used the coffee shops to receive or drop off message for her daughter and so had taken it seriously to be at the coffee shops before Melinda arrived and hung around long after she had left. The evening Anita made her first contact with Melinda, she was in one of the coffee shops as was her habit and had at some point stood up to go use the restroom. While she was in there, Anita followed her and waited for her to get done. When Melinda had finished and was about to leave, Anita said to her, “I know who you are. You are Melinda Edward. You are looking for your daughter Eve. I can help you find her if you will believe me and follow my instructions.” Melinda stood still in shock and regarded Anita for a while. She had thought she was discreet enough in her movements not to be easily tailed by the Elite.

“The Elite sent you, didn’t they?” Melinda asked still looking dazed. “They didn’t. Eve sent me and your life is in danger. For weeks three agents have been following you hoping you will lead them to your daughter. Your husband, Frederick Edward wants her dead along with Kate her cousin.” The mention of the name ‘Kate’ rattled Melinda. “Who told you about Kate? Is she alive? We have not seen her in many years!” Melinda drew closer to Anita, showing some faith in her. “I know Kate a lot more than you do. She is alive. Eve found her some months ago. I cannot tell you much about her and Eve right here. You are being watched, we must leave now.” Melinda pondered momentarily the idea of leaving with Anita; seeing Melinda was hesitant, Anita removed some pictures from her pouch and handed them to Melinda and said, “See for yourself, these images show agents of the Elite following you around. The agents in the pictures are dead. I killed them, if you don’t leave with me now; the Elite are going to figure out that Kate has made a move to protect you.” Melinda stared unbelievably at the pictures in her hands. Each one of them showed her in different places with three particular faces in the background of the pictures.

“How come I didn’t notice them?” asked Melinda. “You didn’t because you are not trained to see them.” In that moment, a lady entered the restroom, had cursory look at them and headed toward one of the toilets to ease herself. Anita studied the lady from behind and tapped Melinda to follow her. The look on Anita’s face said all there needed to be said about the lady who entered the restroom. Outside the toilet, Anita headed toward the exit door to the back of the coffee shop. Panting like a weather-beaten bird, Melinda followed behind her. Back at the rest room, the lady who came in moments earlier, dashed out with a phone to her ear and giving information to someone on the phone, “She is at the coffee shop. I saw her in the restroom with a young woman. The young woman is Caucasian, has thick, dark hair, about twenty three years, stands tall at about 5.6 feet, athletic and looks like she can handle a good fight. They must be headed your way.” The Elite had found the bodies of the agents Anita poisoned with polonium and suspected something was wrong.

Far away in North Africa, Damita and Alenjandro moved their team through an underground road network. Their intention was to get to Jordan. The Elite had got wind of them and came in hot against them in Ethiopia. Alenjandro and his brother, Hernandez surprised themselves by bravely engaging the agents who came after them. Clarisa and her mother Basilia had to squeeze the trigger of their guns a few times to help pin back the blood thirsty agents who busted into their house. At the end of the fight, the agents were taken down, but Alejandro and his family members sustained a few injuries. Only Damita’s mother in-law made it out of the house without any injuries. Eight of the people who lived next to them were killed in the fight. Damita was not home, she had gone to negotiate with tuaregs who would help them get into Jordan. Alejandro and the others had to take what they could and went to meet up with Damita who had to accept the terms the tuaregs presented to her when she saw how bloodied Alejandro and his family members looked.

In Argentina Kate and her team worked hard to stay off the raider. The entire North American continent was crawling with agents of the Elite. In Peru the mafia war she engineered so she and her team could escape was at its peak. Moving around Argentina was hard for them; satellite was being beamed over the whole area and the images it picked up were being analyzed for any sign of her and her team. Street cameras were hacked into as highly trained Elite field officers sought to lay their hands on Kate and her team. There were also policemen on the payroll of the Elite who patrolled the streets with their pictures, asking passers-by if they had spotted any of them. This particular strategy happened not only in Argentina, but in every North American country.

Both Kate and Eve had secure phone lines on them but were afraid to use them because they did not know if the phone lines had been hacked. However they needed to know if Anita had succeeded in moving Melinda out of the United States. It was the biggest fight of their lives and they knew it. They also knew that the way the Elite hemmed in on them from every side that the chase might not end beautifully. Unknown to them, their survival rested in the hands of one of them – Shepherd. He was the only one whose name was not on the list the Elite drew up. As at this stage no one knew why his name was left out. After taking a bullet in Bolivia, he was struggling to recover without adequate medical care. Dr. Brown lacked the medical supply to give him the treatment he needed.

After waiting for long without news from Anita or Damita Kate grew restless; she made up her mind to call both Anita and Damita. Though he had not admitted it to anyone, he was in love with Alenjandro. She was hoping to tell him how she felt when their mission will have ended well. With the sort of heat the Elite had turned on them she was no longer sure she would get that moment to tell him how she felt about him. Thankfully just when Kate was about to place a call to Damita so she could speak with Alejandro, Shepherd stirred up from his nap and shouted, “Don’t do that Kate! Give me the phone!” All of them were shocked by the way Shepherd acted. “What is it Shepherd?” asked Kate. “I just remembered…” he replied as he hurriedly removed his laptop from its bag. “…there is an application which can tell us if your phone has been hacked. It is high grade military software. I have it in my external hard drive,” Shepherd continued. His offer did little to make Kate feel better. “What if my phone and that of Eve have been hacked, what will you do about it?” Kate asked. “With the codes I will take from the app you will be able to make calls without being detected.” Shepherd’s answer helped her brighten up a bit and she tossed his phone at him. “How long is it going to take you to sort out?” asked Eve. “From thirty minutes to one hour.”

Turning to her cousin, Eve said, “Kate we need to get into the street and steal some food and drugs. We need to patch up our wounded and get out of Argentina once we can make calls to those we need to.” Kate walked over to where Dr. Brown sat and asked her, “What drugs would you need to get Shepherd and Martin back in shape?” Dr. Brown found a piece of paper and began to write the drugs down. In a corner of the room, Martin Douglas sat alone not saying a word to anyone. Once every few seconds he would wipe away tears from his eyes. He was still mourning his wife and daughter.
