“He looks like he is madly in love with you,” Donald said as Chidozie walked away. “It does not matter what he feels. I already know he loves me and I love him too. The question is what are you thinking?” “Well, you have some pictures of me that I would like to have… I need to destroy them all. I am sure you would be happy to hand them over to me if you don’t want him to hear that I have slept with you…severally. Also, you may want to talk to Maureen. You have to convince her that what she saw that night was a game. It was just me and you and Enem trying to see how she would take it. Call it a test of her love and commitment to me.” “And if I say no?” “Then, your relationship with Chidozie goes up in smokes.” “If you say one word to him…naked pictures of you will be displayed across campus. You can tell him whatever you like. Go ahead…but remember, I am ruthless. I will be unforgiving. I will go as far as displaying your pictures on campus and across your entire village. You will not ruin my relationship this time. If you do, you are fair game!!!” Wendy warned him.

Donald regarded her for a moment. “You are evil you know,” he said. “No, you are evil. You use girls like rags and you expect them to be nice…kind and forgiving towards you?” “Some girls make mistakes too and no one goes about taking naked pictures of them.” “Your actions cannot be called mistakes, Donald. You knew what you were doing. How many girls have you broken their hearts in less than a year? You should take responsibility for your actions. I can be tough, and you know that. Don’t mess with me. If Chidozie starts acting funny, I’d you know you have said something to him. In that case, prepare to run to the forest and live there forever because I will come after you like a possessed demon.” “You must love him very much,” Donald replied. “That is none of your business, Donald.” “Okay, I won’t tell him anything. Please could you talk to Maureen for me? You now know what love feels like…you should understand how much I miss Maureen. I am a changed person now. Please help me fix my relationship with Maureen.”

“Who told you that I am working for you? Reverse is the case; you are working for me, Donald. Remember, I have your pictures. Forget Maureen. You should be thinking of graduating without me showing those pictures to the world, and not trying to recruit me to work for you. Forget Maureen, Mr. Casanova.” “I am not a Casanova Wendy.” “Let me be the judge of that.” “What if I drop out of school or transfer to another university and tell Chidozie all about you and I.” “You can try, but I will always find you. By the way, I know your village now. You can never run too far away from me.” Soon, Chidozie returned with a swanky smile on his face. He stretched his arms and reached for Wendy’s waist. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled gently towards him. “I was away for just a few minutes, but I could not stop thinking of you,” he said. Donald walked away from them pretending he did not hear Chidozie. “And I missed you like a sick woman in desperate need of an organ donation,” Wendy answered with an equally glamorous smile hugging her face beautifully.

“I have never been this in love before. I spend the whole weekend with Chidozie and the moment I return to campus, I begin to miss him again,” Wendy explained impassionedly to Enem. “I am so happy for you, Wendy…Very happy for you,” Enem replied. “He is very gentle; very caring and loving. He makes me feel at home. I have no doubt in my head that he cares deeply about me. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. If Donald says a word to Chidozie, honestly, I will send cult boys after him. I will kill him!” Her voice was laced with palpable passion. “Baby, you are burning like hot coal! You are all in for this Chidozie of a guy!” “I am…I am madly in love and I am ready to make this work by all means.” “Don’t you think you should tell him that you have had a thing with Donald before? It is a small world. What if he finds out?” “I am afraid, Enem. I am too afraid of losing him. What if he stops loving me? What if he walks away?” “If he loves you as much as you claim, he might feel a bit bad for a while, but after a while, he will come back. He is better off hearing it from you than from someone else,” Enem advised her.

“I am not mentally ready for that yet. Maybe someday I’ll get to tell him, but not now. I can’t do it yet.” “The choice is yours. I truly hope this works for you.” “I pray so too, Enem.” “So what is happening with you? Have you found yourself a correct guy or are you still sneaking into Donald’s room at night?” Wendy teased. “Donald? He claims he is a reformed man. He is keeping himself now for Maureen. He is still hanging on the hope that she will come back. Meanwhile, his best friend Siji is dying for Maureen. He asked Maureen out, but she said no. Foluke told me.” “Siji is a nice guy…Maureen should date him. That would at least shatter Donald’s world,” Wendy pointed out. “It is not easy you know? We are all still in the same class. All the time, Donald will watch them gallivanting around on campus. Maureen is not that type. She won’t do it.” “You, won’t you do it if you were in Maureen’s shoes?”  Wendy asked. Enem paused for a moment to think about her question. “I guess I would,” she answered. “Me too. Maureen is too civil…too modest.”

Donald dashed to the door. He unlocked the latch and opened it. “Hi Donny!” Chinwe said excitedly. “Hi Chinwe, how are you?” “I am fine, thank you. How about you?” “I am fine. What can I do for you?” Donald asked. “Donny, why are you being aggressive? You won’t even let me in? Since when?” “I am sorry Chinwe. I want to clean up my past and make a new start.” “What do you mean by a new start?” “I blew an opportunity to date a girl that I love very much because I failed to control myself. I want to put all that behind me and lead a more responsible life. I love Maureen, so I have not given up on her.” “When you were jumping into bed with me, Wendy and Enem, you did not think of her, right? Now you want to toss me on the sides because of her? You don’t expect me to keep pestering you. If you don’t know who truly loves you, then you will end up in tears. I can’t take this anymore!” Chinwe turned and walked away in anger. Donald closed the door, returned to bed and lay on his back. He peered at the ceiling, thinking of Maureen. She still would not talk to him.

“Chiichii, you won’t believe this. Wendy is dating this hot guy by the name Chidozie. He is Donald’s cousin. Would you believe it?” “Really?” Chinwe shouted. “The guy is loaded, good looking and loving. Wendy won’t stop talking about him. She is crazy about the guy.” “Does the guy know that Donald long ago finished cultivating the piece of land he has just acquired?” Chinwe asked sarcastically. “For where (No way)! You know Wendy took naked pictures of Donald. She threatened to release the pictures if he talks to his cousin,” Enem said in a low tone. “Really? Wendy is a tough girl. Have you met the guy? I mean Chidozie, her new boyfriend.” “Yes,” said Enem. “The guy is such a sweet person. I wish I could fine me a guy like that.” “Lucky Wendy!” Chinwe said. As soon as Enem left, Chinwe got dressed and headed for Wendy’s hostel.

“Chinwe, it has been a while,” Wendy said at the door. “Yes it has. I hear you have been too busy to hang out with us again. Something has been keeping you engaged off campus.” “Hahaha!! My sister, the guy is awesome. I am in love like Juliet was with Romeo!” “Awww!!! That is quite sweet. I am very happy for you.” “Thanks Chiichii. Come and see his picture,” Wendy invited Chinwe to come closer. She swiped her Samsung Galaxy and opened her photo gallery. “My goodness, the guy is hot!” Chinwe said gleefully. “I know!!!” Wendy answered. “By the way, what will I serve you?” She went to the fridge and rummaged for fruit juice. “Do you have coconut juice?” “Oh no, I don’t. I had the last can last night. I can run across the street and get you one though,” Wendy offered. Chinwe was still staring at Chidozie’s pictures on Wendy’s phone. “That would be great! Thanks Wendy,” she answered absentmindedly.

Wendy headed outside for the small kiosk opposite her hostel. Chinwe quickly entered Wendy’s phonebook and searched for Chidozie’s phone number. At first she found nothing. Her heart was beating fast, but her hands were as steady as a seasoned sculptor at work. How can you have such a wonderful boyfriend while I don’t? She thought of Wendy as she frantically ran through her phonebook. You led the plan that crashed everything for me as far as Donald was concerned, and now you want to enjoy a loaded and good looking guy? No way! Multiple thoughts ran through her head as she looked for Chidozie’s number. Then, she found a number saved under the name – HONEY. She saved the number to her phone and went back to savoring Wendy’s pictures.

“Hello,” A male voice answered. Chinwe had called the number. She made sure to hide her caller ID. “Hi, can I talk to Chidozie?” She asked. “This is Chidozie speaking. “I am calling to tell you that your girlfriend Wendy had been sleeping with your cousin, Donald. They were sleeping even before you met her, and they carried on after.” “What are you talking about? Wendy did not even know Donald very well.” “Is that what they told you? Wendy even has pictures…I mean naked pictures of herself and Donald. I just wanted to help you. Wendy is not who she claims to be…your cousin has been taking care of her on campus for you,” she added sarcastically. “Who are you?” Chidozie asked. “That does not matter. Find out what is happening behind your back!!!” Chinwe hung up.
