Eve assessed their fire power and shook her head in despair; she knew nothing short of miracle would save them from those after their lives. The SUV was gaining speed on them. A crazy idea occurred to her. She had no time to think it through. She yelled at Damita, “Turn off your lane and apply the brake!” Damita looked at Eve unbelievably, wondering if she had gone nuts. “Damita! Don’t think it! Just do it! Everyone get ready to shoot at them on my mark! Just point your guns and shoot!” Damita looked at her rear mirror and saw the SUV closing in on them, the men in the SUV were making read to open fire on them. At that point she turned off her lane and swung their vehicle around. It was an absolute crazy stunt. Their vehicle swung like it was going to tumble. But Damita matched harder on the brake. With a screeching noise the vehicle stood still. Eve yelled, “Shoot!!!” A staccato of gun shots filled the air as Alejandro, Damita, Eve and Hernandez rained bullets on the SUV which was speeding past their car. The side glass of the SUV exploded like a grenade was detonated in it. They could see human flesh torn off and blown apart in the SUV as the bullets from their guns flew into the SUV.

The SUV skidded off the road as the driver’s head was blown wide open. Damita aimed her gun at the tires of the vehicle and put holes in them. Eve knew that if they did not finish off those agents they would revive and come after them. She jumped off their vehicle with her KSG and went after the SUV as it bumped up and down off the tarred road. The sight of Eve shooting at the SUV all by herself encouraged Alejandro and his brother and they joined her. Damita turned their vehicle and waited for them to get back. Already the sight of the gun battle terrified other road users and left them calling 911. It would be only a matter of time before the police would arrive at the scene. Damita knew their plate number would be used to track them, so he got off the vehicle, shot at the number plates and yanked them off. Meanwhile Eve, Alejandro and Hernandez continued to shoot at the SUV, giving those inside no chance to even shoot a bullet at them. Vehicles were pulling up by the road side and many people were making videos of what was happening. Damita did not like that; she knew their faces would be in the news before long. She shot at the ground near Eve and the others and shouted, “People are filming us! Let’s get out of here!”

Just in that moment, the SUV exploded in flames. Hernandez, Eve and Alejandro ran back into their van and Damita sped off; driving against traffic for a while. Basilia and Clarisa were so terrified that even after they had driven for long they still remained on the floor of their vehicle. Eve noticed that Damita was shedding a few tears. She asked, “What is it Damita?” “We were caught on camera. It is only a matter of time before they find out who we are related to. In a few hours The Elite will go after my mother-in-law. She is very old and lives in Arkansas. They will try to use her to get to me! I don’t want her to die a painful death.” There was silence in the vehicle. No one could say a word. None of them had seen Damita emotional. She was tough and spoke very little about herself or anything. The trauma of her family being wiped out by The Elite had damaged her almost irreparably. From the floor where she squatted, Basilia raised her head and said, “No. They will not hurt an old woman. Will they?” Her voice was filled with fear and her eyes were full of same. Hernandez looked down and saw the way Clarisa was hugging the seat were squatted as if it would provide her succor, and pulled her up. Her eyes were filled with tears. She asked her brother, “Is it over?” Her hands, feet and lips all shook. Hernandez hugged her firmly and assured, “It is over. At least we survived that.”

Then when it seemed everyone had forgotten Damita and her own problem, Eve said, “Damita, we can get help for your mother-in-law from here. I can reach the guy who told us Kate is alive and see what they can do for your mother-in-law.” Damita’s tear-filled eyes lit up, and a glim of hope rose in her. Having saved the number of the phone from which Martin Douglas sent them a text message, she dialed it. Shepherd was the one who picked, “Hello! Who is this?” Shepherd asked. “This is Eve Edward. I am with Alenjadro Ignacio. Please can I speak with the guy who sent us text message earlier?” “Who is the guy who sent you text message earlier? Doesn’t he have a name?” Shepherd asked rather harshly. Alejandro quipped, “His name is Martin Douglas, Eve.” “His name is Martin Douglas…pardon me. We are having a hard time over here.” “Hold on.” Shepherd passed the phone to Martin and said “This is for you Martin.” Martin took the phone and asked, “Hello! This is Martin Douglas, how can I help you?” “Martin, this is Eve Edward, cousin to Kate Edward. I am here with Alejandro Ignacio…” “Do you want to talk to your cousin Kate?”  “I would like to, but right after I am done with you.” When Kate heard her name she poised her head like a serpent about to strike a prey. Eve continued, “We need your help. The Elite came after us at the outskirts of Hawaii, we pumped them with bullets and escaped. But some people caught our faces on camera. One of us here has a relative in Arkansas, an old lady. Once they see her face in the videos passers-by made, The Elite will go after the old woman. Can you help us secure the old woman please?” “We are on our way to Arkansas by road, send us the old woman’s picture and address, we will see if we can get to her first.”

Eve leapt up with joy and shouted, “Yes!! Damita! They will help get your mother-in-law!” On the other end of the phone a smile crossed Martins’ face, he was glad he could help save a soul from The Elite. He of course knew what it was like to lose one’s relatives to the monster group. “Eve can I pass the phone now to Kate?” “Hold on…” When Kate heard the name ‘Eve’, she grabbed the phone from Martin and yelled into the mouthpiece, “Eve! Eve Edward!! This is Kate Edward! I am still alive!” Eve had thought she could be able to speak when she heard her sister’s voice; but she could not. Tears circled her eyes and she began to cry. “Kate I am glad you are alive. Since I found out what my father did, I have been looking for you. I and my mother have been looking for you…” Eve began to sob harder. Kate fought back tears. She had seen far worse things than her cousin Eve. She wanted to hear more from Eve but she had broken down in tears. Alejandro took the phone from Eve. “Kate, this is Alejandro. You are alive!” “Ale! You are there!” “Didn’t Martin tell you I have been looking for you? That was how I found your cousin Eve. She saved my family. The Elite came after us.” With a cold, steel voice, Kate said, “Ale I am coming down to Hawaii. You helped me find the truth. I won’t let them hurt you. And I want to see my cousin. I will kill them all. All of The Elite. I know them, they trained me. I am coming to get you all to Arkansas.” “No Kate. Stay back there we are coming to Arkansas.”

“No Alejandro. You won’t make it out of there. I heard something about people making videos of you and the others. They will hunt you like animals. I know them. I will make a stop shortly and head for Hawaii.” They heard Shepherd shout, “Drop the call! You are talking for too long. You are going to draw The Elite to that phone line and if they crack the line, they will know what we are up to.” Alejandro dropped the call immediately. He knew how they were found the last time and did not want to take another chance with phones. They needed somewhere to crash for the night and strategize for the next day. Eve searched through her phone for old cheap hotels. With their faces possibly in the media it would be harder to hide from The Elite. They needed some place with less crowd and security presence. Kate was frustrated and could not find a place. “I know just where we can hide for the night,” Hernandez announced to their excitement.
