Searching through his wallet, Martin Douglas dug up the card on which Alenjandro Ignacio’s number was written. “Can I have your phone Shepherd?” Martin asked. Shepherd tossed his phone at him. Grabbing the phone Martin punched in Alenjandro’s phone number and dialed it. Alenjandro and his family, along with Eve Edward and Damita, were in a van at the outskirts of Hawaii heading to an airfield. Eve Edward had contacted a man, Steve by name, who believed in the same cause as her, to airlift Alenjadro’s family into Mexico and from their help them leave for Lagos Nigeria. When his phone rang, Alejandro stared at it for a while, wondering whether to pick up the call or not. The call terminated without his picking it. He knew that by then Ayinde must have woken up; and he had his number. He felt he could be tracking him through his phone. While he waited to know if the strange caller would call back, Eve asked him, “Why didn’t you take your call?” “I wasn’t sure who was calling. I know Ayinde has this number…” “Does he?!!! You have to get rid of the phone now! He must be tracking us by now. Maybe they may have hacked into your phone and have been listening to our conversations. Oh God! What have you done Alejandro? You should have got rid of your phone long ago!”

Eve grabbed the phone from Alenjadro to dismember it before destroying the sim card inside. Just then a text message crashed into the phone. Eve accessed the message and read it hurriedly. She could not believe the words she read. She yelled hysterically, “Jesus! Jesus!! Eve is alive! Eve is alive!!” Everyone in the van wondered what had come over her. Alenjanro couldn’t wait to read the text message which made Eve shout like she was beside herself. So he snatched the phone from her and read quickly. The message went: “Alenjandro, I guess you are on the run from The Elite. I am also. My name is Martin Douglas, you may have heard about me. Justin Scott the man who put you on that submarine gave me your number. I should have reached out to you before now. Forgive me about that. I want you to know that Kate Edward is alive and is with us now. You can reach me any time on this phone line, it is very secure.” Alejandro was overwhelmed with joy. He asked Eve, “Can’t I reach him right away? We have to know where they are now.” “Not with this phone Alejandro…” Eve took the phone from him and began to transfer the text message to her phone. “…we are not safe with this phone in our midst. We must destroy now.” Turning to Basilia, Clarisa and Hernandez, Eve asked, “Does Ayinde have your phone numbers too?” They all nodded in the affirmative.

Eve yelled at Shepherd, “Stop the vehicle! Stop! Stop now!! We are heading into a trap. Turn off your phones and remove the batteries now!” Damita pulled off the road and packed the vehicle. Clarisa and Hernandez hurried to turn off their phones and remove the batteries. Basilia on her part could not remove the battery in her phone because she used an iPhone. Eve took the phone from Basilia and stepping out of the vehicle, smashed it to bits with a stone and also crushed Alejandro’s phone. Stepping back into the vehicle, Eve announced, “This mission has been compromised already. I believe The Elite must have got in touch with our man. And they must know now that Kate is alive and is with Martin Douglas. If we go ahead with this plan, we will simply be walking into our deaths. I know The Elite; no one tracks people through mobile gadgets and computers better than they do. I think now I know why they have not come after us so far. They wanted us to walk into their trap.” In anger Eve took from Hernandez and Clarisa their phones, jumping out of the vehicle she smashed them to pieces. Stepping back into the vehicle once more she asked, “Does anyone in here have a device which can send out electromagnetic waves?” “I have my mobile phone on me, but it is secure,” replied Damita. “Let me see how secure it is,” requested Eve. Damita gave Eve her phone. Eve typed in a code and sent it to some three digit short code and waited. About a minute’s time, a text message came in notifying Eve that the phone line was secure.

“You are right Damita, your phone number is secure. From now on, no one makes a call or uses a phone except my or Damita’s phone. I can’t call Steve to know how things are at his end; if The Elite have got in touch with him, they won’t let him tell me the truth. I have to call someone else to know what is happening over there.” Eve searched through her phone, finding the number she wanted, she dialed it. A male voice came through, “Hello Eve!” “Brad, have you heard from Steve? I have a deal with him and I am wondering if he is going to keep his end of the bargain.” “Someone set him up. He is dead.” “Oh no! You can’t be right! He can’t be dead! How do you know he is dead?” “Someone offered him a job to lift some people into Mexico. We don’t know how, but somehow the bad guys got wind of it. They came asking him to betray his clients. You know Steve; he will never do a thing like that. He refused and dared them to do their worst. They shot him on the head. The saddest thing now is that we can’t find his family members.” “I am sorry Brad. Steve was going to lift some people I am protecting into Mexico. I am the one who called him for the job.” “No! No! You are not serious Eve! How did you let this happen?” “The people am protecting are lousy. Their phones were hacked, that was how The Elite got to Steve. I promise you that I will find his family.” “Are you sure The Elite killed Steve?” “Yes, Brad. The guys who came for him were not from the government. I don’t know what The Elite may have heard through the phones they hacked into. Tell the others that The Elite are after all of us on a full hunt.” “Okay Eve. Thanks for letting me know the truth.” “You are welcome Brad.”

Eve was overcome with sorrow. He felt responsible for what had happened to Steve and his family. She was so mad she yelled at Alenjandro and his family, “That man’s blood is on your hands! You all are fools! You know nothing about the organization after you! They killed him and probably took his family members. None of you are going to Africa anymore; you will stay back here and fight. Even you Basilia, you are going to shoot some agents of The Elite group. Your stupidity has killed a man and put his family in danger, now you have to make up for it.” Basilia and Clarisa began to cry. Alejandro and his brother, Hernandez hung their shoulders down in sorrow. “Damita, please get us out of here. We have to find somewhere to hide until we can reach Martin Douglas to know where Kate is.” Damita turned the vehicle and drove off.  They had hardly driven for thirty minutes when Hernandez alarmed them with his observation, “I think we are being followed! Look at that Ford SUV, it has been driving behind us for some time.” Everyone in the van turned to look at the SUV; Damita stepped on the gas and sped off. She wanted to know if the Ford SUV would increase it speed. For a moment it did not. Damita did not want to take chances, she stepped harder on the gas and ate up the distance ahead of her.

Then they saw the SUV revving up towards them. Eve pulled out her KSG assault rifle and asked all to lie down. Damita reloaded her shotgun and tasked their van to speed faster. Alejandro unzipped his bag, removed a H&K MP5K-N PDW shotgun, gave it to his brother and said, “Protect mama and Clarisa. Make sure you don’t die today.” Alejandro took the silver coated Smith and Wesson automatic pistol Eve gave him and removed the safety pin. He lowered his head and said a short prayer, “Please God, save us all today. This is not how I want to die nor do I want anyone here to die this way.” He raised his head and moved closer to the window to get a good view of the SUV bearing down on them. He looked at his brother, his eyes were filled with fear and his hands shook terribly. Alejandro whispered to him, “Fear not, you won’t die this day.”
